Officially granted university status in 1964, the University of Strathclyde has 22,000 students from 100 different countries. The university's only campus is located in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland. It was named “University of the Year” in 2012 and “Entrepreneurial University of the Year” in 2013 by the Strathclyde Times.
The University is known for its Faculty of Business, which is in close contact with the industry. The University of Strathclyde is among 55 universities globally that have received “triple accreditation” by three significant associations. The university has recently opened a new campus in Delhi. Many of its programs, such as product design and innovation, modern languages, and international business, are designed with industry experts. The University has Scotland's most significant engineering faculty and Europe's largest electrical power-based engineering and energy research facility.
Life is pretty fun at the university, ranked 36th in the Times University Guide 2020, 51st in the Guardian University Guide 2020, and 300th in the QS World University Rankings.
The Strathclyde Center for Technology and Innovation develops the university's research output. In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, the university was ranked among the UK's top 20 research-intensive universities. The University has the best Physics department in the UK. The Electrical and Electronics Engineering department is the first in Scotland.
About 1,500 students stay on campus, while about 400 live in university dormitories within walking distance of the campus. Strathclyde residence halls are arranged in apartments where students share common areas such as the kitchen. All first-year undergraduate students are guaranteed accommodation. A web-based service offered by the university facilitates accessible communication between hosts and students seeking private accommodation.
Teaching at Strathclyde University consists of private lessons, seminar-style lectures, and large group conferences. In addition, students are expected to participate in independent work. Students are given all the information needed for their program. Still, students are encouraged to put their efforts into a better understanding of their subject matter by the teaching staff.
At the same time, students are offered the opportunity of private advisor support. Personal counselors can help students further their learning and provide advice on projects or challenges. Strathclyde University was ranked first in 7 subject areas across the UK in the Complete University Guide 2019.

The University of Strathclyde is based in the vibrant and cosmopolitan city of Glasgow, Scotland. Glasgow boasts live arts events, cutting-edge music scenes, and lively nightlife. With 20 different museums and galleries, Glasgow is home to the Scottish Opera, the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, and the Scottish Royal Ballet. 19th century landscaped parks and gardens surround the impressively green city center.
Students can enjoy the highlands and islands less than an hour away near Glasgow. There is a student shuttle service between the John Anderson and Jordanhill campuses. Students spend an average of £5,115 on living expenses, while the amount required for accommodation is an average of £4,440 per year.
The International Student Club meets with students every week throughout the academic year and organizes forums to get to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Many events are scheduled, including daily and weekend tours, events promoting international cuisine, theater tours, and music concerts. With weekly student meetings, students have the chance to meet each other and form valuable friendships and connections.
Pre-sessional and In-sessional English lessons and year-round English support lessons are free for all students, up to 4 hours per week. The University has an international identity, hosting students from various parts of the world every year.
