Yeditepe University teaches in the 26 August Settlement, which was built to meet the education, culture, art, sports, and all needs of the students. 26 August Settlement is located on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, on the skirts of Kayışdağı with its unique architecture, on an area of 125 thousand square meters and a closed area of 223 thousand square meters. Inspired by Seljuk Architecture, the 26 August Settlement includes educational buildings, social facilities, and open spaces, as well as two separate student hotels with a total capacity of 3,270 students surrounding these buildings.
Life at Yeditepe University
Yeditepe University, which was ranked first among foundation universities in Turkey in the 2017 and 2018 evaluations of Green Metric, which is an international platform on sustainability and environmental awareness and determines the greenest universities in the world, also broke new ground with its rooftop solar energy system installed on the campus. It is the only university in Turkey that can produce its energy.
The buildings on the campus are entered through large doors that reach 22 meters in height. The university has modern architectural features transferred from the typical Seljuk Architecture to the present with its illuminated courtyards. The exterior of the buildings, which contain both Seljuk architecture and modern architecture, is covered with natural stones brought from Anatolia. In order to keep it cool in summer and warm in winter, Ünye stone was used on the facades of the building, and polyurethane was used as heat panels.
The sports facilities of the university include many areas where students can do sports as indoor and outdoor facilities. Two indoor volleyball and basketball courts with and without spectators on the lower floors of the Social Facilities building as indoor sports facilities; squash hall, fitness center, swimming pool with semi-Olympic spectators, table tennis area. Outdoor sports facilities include a swimming pool, basketball and volleyball courts, a multi-purpose sports field that is also used as a tennis court, and a carpeted mini football field.
In addition, in the bazaar located on the ground floor of the Social Facilities building; There is a bookstore, a bank, a mini-market, a hairdresser for men and women, a clothing store, a mini perfumery selling souvenirs and cosmetics.
