The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland could be an association accountable for the medical specialization of surgery throughout Ireland. Uniquely among the four mutually recognized royal surgical colleges within the UK and Ireland, it also includes Ireland's graduate school. With over 3,000 students from 60 countries forming the core of a specialist university that shares its name, the Royal College of Surgeons has full university status since 2019 and is the first private university in Ireland.

The institution currently includes schools of drugs, pharmacy, physiotherapy and nursing, thus conducting both undergraduate and postgraduate education and research activities in a number of health fields.

In the Times education 2020 Impact Rankings, RCSI was ranked world-favored within the "health and well-being" category.

Student Life

Students at RCSI are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities that promote service and cultural awareness within the community. The scholar Union is an annual elected body of 8 officers and is the college bridge between the coed body of the school. Additionally, the voices of the scholars, most of whom are invited to the meetings, are ensured to be heard on various topics. The coed Union works closely with the coed Council, which is created from representatives from all classes at RCSI.

History of the varsity

RCSI is the first institution in Ireland to supply a 4-year postgraduate entry program for medicine.

These trainings have changed over time at the varsity, which has training within the fields of Logic, Military Surgery, Botany, likewise as Hygiene or Political Medicine. Within the 1980s Beaumont Hospital became the best center for medical education in Dublin. Connolly Hospital, Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital, and St. together with hospitals like Joseph's Hospital, Dublin, there were a bunch of hospitals affiliated with RCSI Hospitals.

In 2010, Prof. Eilis McGovern became President of the RCSI and thus the primary female President of any surgical Royal College within the world. This new president opened a brand new high-tech facility at RCSI in 2017. This high-tech facility has become Europe's most advanced clinical healthcare simulation center. In 2018, it was named Ireland's favorite building at the RIAI Irish Architecture Awards.
